Euphrazia Gervazi lives in Bukoba, Tanzania, East Africa. She is a mother of 6 children and she has 20 grandchildren.
Like many women and families living around Lake Victoria, Euphra
zia depends heavily on her small family farm to produce food for her extended family, including 3 grandchildren she cares for. Euphrazia also weaves baskets twice a week, spending approximately 4 hours making handcrafts that she sells in order to raise some capital for her family. When Euphrazia is not making baskets and is done with her household chores, she goes out to the village to look for sporadic work. Amongst the most common activities she can find are cutting grass, utilized by small banana farmers to keep the moisture of their land, and also some weeding. Although these activities are paid very little they help the women in getting some basic needs attended.
Euphrazia hopes she can have access to some capital through a partnership with a business partner and be able to spend more time weaving baskets. The many hours required for making one basket could be expanded in order to ensure quality, increasing her chances of selling baskets. By being a Global Business Partner you can help Euphrazia to fulfill her dream of becoming an entrepreneur in her local community.
