Raising Chickens

My name is Sharon Likando Maliti. I am 38 years old and I have three sons and a daughter. I live in Mongu District, Western Province, Zambia. I have been married for fourteen years. The first four years of my marriage were wonderful because my husband had a well paying job. He was able to provide for our needs at home. Unfortunately, he lost his job six years ago and life has since become hard for us. Worse still, my parents and three brothers died between 1991 and 2004. I have since taken on four children left by my brothers, raising the number of children in my home to eight. I love my brothers’ children as if they were my own but it breaks my heart when I cannot adequately provide for them. I want to rear chickens for business so that I can take good care of my children.
